Seattle Pacific delays start of Spring Quarter

Seattle Pacific University will delay the start of Spring Quarter by two weeks to give faculty the time and resources they need to deliver classes remotely. Spring Quarter will begin April 13 instead of March 31. Classes will be conducted remotely and not meet on campus.

In an email to the SPU community, President Dan Martin said, “We are making this move to not only give our faculty the time they need to be well prepared to deliver courses remotely, but to ensure the continuation of the high-quality, well-resourced, and distinctive academic programs here at Seattle Pacific.”

Campus leaders are sending regular updates to students, parents, faculty, and staff as plans are developed.

Residence halls and dining services will remain open during Spring Break to accommodate students whose plans may have changed.

SPU is also encouraging employees to work from home if possible, recognizing that some essential staff need to be on the residential campus.

The last week of Winter Quarter classes and finals were held remotely. SPU’s Winter Quarter ended March 13, and finals end March 19.
