Statement on violence and hate against Asian and Asian Americans
A statement from the Seattle Pacific University Senior Leadership Council:
We are deeply saddened by the senseless killings in Atlanta. We are hearing the hurt, outrage, and fear from many of our Asian and Asian American students, faculty, and staff, and we pledge to stand together so that our brothers and sisters do not carry this burden alone. All acts of racism are rooted in sin, and we pray for an end to these acts of violence.
SPU Professor of Psychology Paul Youngbin Kim’s op-ed in The Seattle Times last week is a strong reminder about the "sense of urgency to make more intentional efforts in our families, neighborhoods, and schools to better support Asians and Asian Americans."
In prayer and love for our community,
The Senior Leadership Council
