2017 is SPU’s third-strongest fundraising year ever
Alumni, parents, and friends have invested in Seattle Pacific, with generous gifts during the 2017 fiscal year. As of July 5, 2017, pending final budget reconciliation, the total amount of support raised was more than $9.1 million, the third-largest annual total in SPU history.
GiveBIG day of giving shows record results
SPU participated in GiveBIG, a day of giving held May 10, organized by the Seattle Foundation. A generous $75,000 match helped encourage donors to participate, with a total of $187,341 given by 393 donors, the biggest day of giving to date.
Increased support for bequest giving
Recent donations made to SPU through donors’ estates are planting seeds of support that will provide for generations of students to come. In the last year, SPU has received six new irrevocable gifts valued at $262,000, and seven new documented bequest commitments have been announced, with an estimated value of over $1.6 million. Additionally, SPU has received over $7.6 million in the past 12 months from eight estates that have matured.
Seattle Pacific Foundation posts excellent rate of return
Charged with stewarding endowment gifts to SPU, the Seattle Pacific Foundation continued to demonstrate an outstanding rate of return on investment. In a survey of 830 institutions of higher education with endowments, including schools such as Princeton, Stanford, and Yale, SPU’s endowment returns were in the top 10 percent for one-, three-, five-, and 10-year periods of investment, as of June 30, 2016.
Additionally, for the 2015–16 fiscal year, SPU ranked No. 12 out of the 830 participating institutions. As of June 30, 2017, pending finalized audit, the value of SPU’s endowment was more than $100 million.
