    Seattle Pacific University awards several Deffenbaugh and Burwell Engineering scholarships of up to $5,000 to incoming freshmen majoring in an engineering discipline. These first-year scholarships are awarded based on the potential for the student to succeed in SPU’s engineering programs as well as demonstrated financial need.

    Selection Process

    In order to be considered for the Deffenbaugh or Burwell Engineering Scholarship, you must do the following:

    • Apply to Seattle Pacific University.
    • Be intending to major in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or General Engineering.
    • Submit your FAFSA to SPU.

    Students will be selected based on their academic rigor, demonstrated passion for service, and leadership experience.

    There is no additional application for this scholarship. Decisions will be based on your application to the University. Scholarship recipients will be notified by April 1.
