Freedom, Opportunity, and Security: Economic Policy and the Political System, by Douglas Downing

Call Number: HB74 .P65 D69 2015 (General Collection)

What does an economist think about the state of the present economy? At a party, SPU Professor of Economics Doug Downing might only give a 30 second answer, but in his new book Freedom, Opportunity, and Security Downing is able to give a more detailed, and therefore more interesting, response. Economics and politics can get confusing quickly, but Downing’s style is clear and easy to read. He draws one along in a playful fashion, both explaining and ruminating on the complicated American political economy. In an election year and hot political times, Downing's levelheadedness suggests we all take a step back, before then re-engaging as wiser participants.
