Brass Ensemble

Brass Ensemble

The SPU Brass Ensemble is a select group of brass musicians who study and perform music from the rich repertoire of brass music. The ensemble performs classical and contemporary works by some of the world's most renowned composers, both on and off campus.

As a member of Brass Ensemble, you will be immersed in a variety of activities designed to develop technical skills, musicality, knowledge, and performance practices. The group rehearses weekly and performs music for a variety of instrument combinations at the end of each quarter.

Membership

Membership in Brass Ensemble is by audition. If you are a musician who plays a brass instrument, you are invited to audition for Brass Ensemble — whether you are a music major, a music minor, or a nonmajor. Auditions take place at the beginning of Autumn Quarter (see notices posted in the lobby of Crawford Music Building prior to the beginning of the quarter). A yearlong commitment is expected, and you may take the course an unlimited number of times.
