Governor Chris Gregoire has directed that Washington State and United States flags at all Washington state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff Tuesday, May 3, 2011, in memory of U.S. Marine Corps Lance Corporal Joe Jackson, 22, of White Swan, Washington. Jackson died April 24 of injuries sustained in Afghanistan when an improvised explosive device detonated.
Other government entities, citizens, and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition.
