Biology Professor Dies

A Message to the SPU Community from Provost Jeff Van Duzer.

I am deeply saddened to communicate that Dr. Cindy Fitch passed away on June 13. Cindy joined the SPU biology faculty in 1994. She was perhaps best known for her passionate leadership of the Pre-Professional Health Sciences program, and her caring advising of the students who were part of that program on their path to careers in medicine and dentistry. Cindy left the university after the 2011-12 academic year, but our love for her and deep appreciation for her many contributions to our community continue on.

A memorial service for Cindy will be held Wednesday, June 19, at 11 a.m. at St. Jude’s Parish, 10526 166th Ave NE, in Redmond. You can send condolence cards to the Dean’s Office, and we will arrange for them to be delivered to the Fitch family.
