Chapel Series: Civic Engagement

Lisa Sharon Harper, chief church engagement officer for Sojourners and author of The Very Good Gospel: How Everything Wrong Can Be Made Right, is the guest speaker at the next chapel on Tuesday, October 25, at 11:10 a.m. in First Free Methodist Church.

In her role at Sojourners, she leads trainings and mobilizes clergy and community leaders around shared values for the common good, with a focus on racial justice. Prior to joining Sojourners, Harper was the founding executive director of New York Faith & Justice, an ecumenical movement to end poverty in New York City. Her faith-rooted approach to advocacy and organizing has activated people across the country and around the world to address structural and political injustice as an outward demonstration of their personal faith. She earned her master’s degree in human rights from Columbia University, is currently in the process of ordination in the Evangelical Covenant Church.

The event is free and wheelchair accessible. To request disability accommodation, contact 206-281-2272, TTY 206-281-2224, or dss@spu.edu.
