SPU has a fantastic wilderness environmental research campus in the San Juan Islands. At the Blakely Island Field Station, science students get to study lush kelp forests, eelgrass meadows, spectacular undersea rock walls, freshwater lakes, as well as the habitat for river otters, herons, kingfishers, bald eagles, and ospreys, and diverse fauna. Besides a great story, this is a photographer’s dream!

Google Maps New "Street View" Features Includes SPU
Seattle Pacific University is included in the new “Street View” imagery of university campuses in Google Maps. Google’s team visited the SPU campus and collected 360-degree imagery with a three-wheel pedicab known as the “Street View” trike. SPU’s magazine, Response, covered Google’s visit to campus last July

Seattle Pacific University Announces Next President

The Seattle Pacific University Board of Trustees today elected Dr. Daniel J. Martin as the 10th president of SPU. Martin, currently president of Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) in Ohio, will assume his duties on July 1, 2012. He will succeed President Philip W. Eaton, who announced his retirement last September.
Tent City 3 Moves to SPU

Tent City 3 (TC3) comes to Seattle Pacific University on Saturday, January 21, for a nine-week stay. TC3 will be located on Wallace Field, east of Royal Brougham Pavilion on West Nickerson Street, from January 21 to March 24. This will be the first time SPU has hosted the group.
SPU Welcomes NASA Astronomer

Dr. Jennifer Wiseman, senior project scientist for the NASA Hubble Space telescope, is the keynote speaker for Seattle Pacific University’s annual Day of Common Learning on Wednesday, October 19. The public is invited to hear her talk at 10 a.m. in Royal Brougham Pavilion titled “Stars, Galaxies, Planets, and Life: An Amazing Universe to Behold.”
Translator of The Message Will Speak at SPU

Rev. Eugene Peterson, Bible translator of the award-winning book The Message and Seattle Pacific University alumnus, will speak on Thursday, October 20, at 7 p.m. in Royal Brougham. In his lecture titled "St. Mark: The Basic Text for Christian Spirituality," he will explore the importance of Scripture in spiritual formation.
