TESL 6931: Cultural Practicum
Offers international MA-TESOL students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with specific aspects of United States culture that support the development of their professional teaching competence. These aspects include: (a) exploration of difference in higher education between students' home culture and the United States, (b) discussion of various academic discourse styles and practices in higher education, and (c) practice of specific skills and strategies to support students' successful completion of the Phase I and Phase II Teaching Practicum component of the MA-TESOL program. Opportunities will be offered to reflect on these issues in light of Christian and/or other faith and beliefs. Non-international MA-TESOL students may use this course as an elective in the program.
