| Designed to teach music teachers and middle/high school students how to successfully use and teach musical form, chord progression, music sequencing and song composition on an iPad. The course begins with the workings of the iPad, and quickly moves into musical form. Students will map out their form for their composition on paper, then learn and fill in their chord progession. Using Garage Band on the iPad, participants will take this blueprint and generate a five-part song consisting of: drums, bass, piano, guitar, and an audio track. They will then master the music and get it ready for publication and/or sharing online. Students must complete a final original song on their own and submit it to the instructor. | Designed for both beginner and intermediate users or older Sibelius users wishing to learn the new Sibelius 7 version. Participants will learn the basics of inputting music using mouse or a midi keyboard in both step time and real-time modes. Simple in class assignments will teach participants to input a simple lead sheet with chords and lyrics, input a simple four-part score and transpose and extract the parts, learn how to scan in music, import midi files, design worksheets and tests, saving as audio, "live tempo", magnetic layout, working with sound libraries, working with the new Ideas HUB, advanced page layout techniques, writing music to video, and much more.
