Laura Lasworth is a professor of Art at Seattle Pacific University where she serves as director of the Illustration/New Pictures program. She teaches a number of core classes for the Art Department including Design Studio Color, Perspective Drawing, and a series of painting studios that explore a range of traditional and contemporary theoretical approaches to picture making.
As an artist, Ms. Lasworth is known for her sophisticated use of literary, philosophical, and personal symbolism in a manner that recalls classical allegory and medieval iconography. Her paintings have been exhibited nationally in numerous solo and group shows and have been featured in the publications Art in America, Artforum, The Los Angeles Times, and Image Journal. She is represented by the Lora Schlesinger Gallery in Santa Monica, California.
