Katya Nemtchinova teaches linguistics after twenty years of teaching Russian and MA TESOL courses at SPU. She came to Seattle Pacific in 1997 after receiving her doctorate in applied linguistics from SUNY at Stony Brook. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s at Moscow State Linguistic University in 1987.
Dr. Nemtchinova’s research focuses on teacher education, particularly the issues of non-native English speaking professionals in TESL, and the use of technology in language teaching and learning. She is the author of a Russian listening and speaking textbook, Poslushajte!, and two editions of Teaching Listening, a volume in the English Language Teacher Development series, in addition to numerous journal articles and chapters in edited books.
