Ken Pendergrass, director of the SPU Men's Choir, founded the Port Orchard (Washington) Community Chorale and the Olympic Boys Choir, and directed the 75-member Crossroads Youth Choir at Adventure of Faith Presbyterian Church in Port Orchard, where he was director of music, worship, and the arts for seven years.
In his 23rd year of teaching music in California and Washington public schools, Mr. Pendergrass currently teaches choral, general, and instrumental music at Thurgood Marshall School in Seattle. He studied music education at the University of Southern California and Biola University, and holds a master of music degree from Western Washington University in choral conducting. He has been a director of the Northwest Girlchoir and continues to work with a variety of choral groups of all ages throughout the Puget Sound region as a conductor and clinician. Mr. Pendergrass is a member of the Compline Choir at St. Mark's Cathedral, Seattle, which sings each Sunday evening at 9:30 p.m. and is broadcast on Seattle's Classical KING FM.
