Ryan Schultz is one of the Northwest’s busiest tuba performers and low brass pedagogues. Most years, he is involved with more than 100 professional orchestral performances, and also works with hundreds of young musicians throughout the region every school year.
After leaving the I Corps Army Band in 1999, Mr. Schultz went on to win several orchestral positions: principal tubist of the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra and principal tubist of the Auburn and Yakima Symphonies. He has performed and recorded with Seattle Symphony and can also be heard on numerous commercial recordings.
Mr. Schultz has also performed on tuba and/or bass trombone with Eugene Symphony, Spokane Symphony, Northwest Sinfonietta, and the orchestras of Bellevue, Tacoma, and Yakima. His low brass students have won top prizes in international, national, regional, Washington state, and local music competitions. Alumni of Mr. Schultz’s teaching studios have gone on to study at some of the finest colleges and conservatories in the nation and win numerous honors.
