Sandra Saathoff has been director of flute studies at Seattle Pacific since 2008. Director of SPU's Flute Ensemble, she is a highly sought-after clinician in the Puget Sound area.
Ms. Saathoff also runs a private flute studio, and performs with local orchestral, chamber, and folk ensembles — including as principal flute for the Seattle Philharmonic. She also directs the flute program of the Bellevue Youth Symphony. Her teachers include Zart Dombourian-Eby, Rae Terpenning, Kim Pineda (baroque flute), Conal O'Grada (Ireland), and Leo Mac Namara (Seattle). She has taken the stage with flutists such as Sir James Galway, Trevor Wye, Ian Clarke, and Ian Anderson.
Ms. Saathoff received a master of arts degree from the University of Washington (focusing on flute performance and instrumental conducting) and a bachelor of music education from Pacific Lutheran University.
