Newsletter

Greetings From the School of Education!

Rick Eigenbrood

It is my pleasure to introduce our first Seattle Pacific University School of Education newsletter. There are so many wonderful things happening in the School of Education and much to celebrate! It is my hope that this first newsletter and subsequent issues will provide the opportunity for us to share with our alumni, partners, and other stakeholders.

In this first edition, you will learn about the positive news of our continued accreditation, meet new faculty, discover two new programs, and learn about the research and engagement activities of some of our faculty. You’ll also see highlights of some of the recent honors received by our alumni.

This summer and fall have been very successful -- and busy. We have been blessed with the privilege of welcoming a large number of students into our various programs. We continue to see large numbers of new students in our undergraduate and graduate teacher education programs, educational leadership programs, school counseling program, literacy and teacher leadership programs, and three doctoral study programs.

As I consider the opportunity for us to serve both aspiring and current educators through our various programs, I am encouraged in the knowledge that I work with talented faculty and staff who, guided by faith, are dedicated to preparing the very best educators for both public and private schools. I am impressed by the strong and reflective teaching of School of Education faculty, their mentorship of students, and their engagement with schools and the community in research and outreach activities. With professionalism and personal attention, our staff guides students through day-to-day questions about subjects such as program planning, certification requirements, field experience placement, and financial aid. Together, faculty and staff focus on the professional and personal growth of students, helping to cultivate the calling of being an educator.

Our God calls us to be the best educators possible. It is my prayer that my School of Education colleagues and I will be faithful in offering programs that will indeed “engage the culture and change the world” for the benefit of all learners, their families, and our community.

Best regards,

Rick Eigenbrood, Dean
