Following six years in the US Navy, Russ Killingsworth returned to school to become a high school mathematics teacher. After more than four years of successful experience at Patterson (California) High School he moved to the Pacific Northwest in order to pursue graduate work, spending five years teaching at the University of Washington and South Seattle Community College.
Russ teaches a variety of mathematics courses for the college of arts and sciences as well as secondary mathematics methods, and elementary math content and methods courses for the School of Education. He served as director of SPU’s mathematics endorsement program for many years. He has served on the board of the Washington State Mathematics Council, including two years as president, and is involved in many statewide mathematics-related issues. He additionally serves on the NCATE Board of Examiners where he assists in accrediting educational programs nationwide.
