Licensure Exams and Pass Rates

Completing your degree is just the first requirement if you’ve trained to become a nurse. To ensure public protection, you must also pass an exam in order to apply for licensure.

Pre-licensure graduates

To practice as a registered nurse in the United States, you must first pass NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Examination). The exam is designed to test the knowledge, skills, and abilities essential for the safe and effective practice of entry-level nursing. The SPU Nursing curriculum and your clinical experiences will assist you in preparing to pass this licensing exam.

In 2022, the NCLEX first-attempt pass rate for SPU pre-licensure graduates was 81.3 percent.
