Professor of New Testament Jack Levison's latest Huffington Post article presents a new, yet old, way to engage with Lent and Scripture. “How does a Jewish kid learn the Hebrew alphabet? She eats it. Traditionally, a teacher places a piece of candy on each of the Hebrew letters. When she masters a letter, she eats the candy. Why? Because Torah is sweet, ‘sweeter also than honey, and drippings of the honeycomb’(Psalm 19:10).” Read the article.

Associate Professor of Theology Daniel Castelo, 2011 recipient of the Templeton Award for Theological Promise, was granted tenure on February 14, 2013. Castelo is the author of Revisioning Pentecostal Ethics: The Epicletic Community (CPT Press, 2012); Theological Theodicy (Wipf and Stock, 2012); and The Apathetic God: Exploring the Contemporary Relevance of Divine Impassibility.

Called to Lead Gets a New Chapter

Paul T. Walls Professor of Scripture and Wesleyan Studies Rob Wall and coauthor Anthony B. Robinson have just completed a new chapter of Called to Lead: Paul's Letters to Timothy for a New Day. Titled “Preachers of Least Resistance,” the chapter provides both exegesis and dynamic contemporary exposition of 2 Timothy 3:1-9, a passage not covered in the book, and is available for free download (PDF).
