There are two separate accounts used at SPU, the SPU ID Number and Banner PIN (used to access the Banner Information System) as well as the SPU Username and Password (used to access email, Blackboard and other resources).
To access your email, you will need to first access the Banner Information System. To access the Banner Info System, go to the SPU Home Page -> Move your mouse up to Online Services and select Banner from the drop down menu.
To set up your accounts:
If you'd like to bookmark the Banner Info system, use the following link: http://www.spu.edu/banweb.
1. SPU ID Number and PIN
The SPU ID Number is a unique, 9-digit, university-issued ID Number.
As a first time user, go to the Banner Info System Login Page and type your SPU ID Number in the User ID field. Enter your default Banner PIN (your birth date) in the form of MMDDYY (ex: June 3, 1990 = 060390) in the PIN Field.
The first time you log in to the system you will be prompted to create a new security question and change your PIN to something other than the default.
Common Problems:
Occasionally the date of birth will not be set as your default Banner PIN. This happens when we do not have your complete information on file with Student Academic Services. Please try using either the last 6-digits of your SSN or your SPU ID number as your PIN and User ID.
If you do not know your SPU ID Number you may also use your SSN as the User ID. This is not recommended for security and privacy reasons.
If you used your SSN to log in, please go to the Personal Menu to look up your SPU ID Number.
For information about changing your PIN, or resetting a forgotten one, please see PIN and Password.
2. SPU Username and Password
Your SPU email address will be
username@spu.edu.
Passwords are not automatically generated; to set up your password, do the following:
There are some students that do not have an account automatically generated. Information about these accounts may be found on: Computer Resources Menu.
For information about changing your Password or resetting a forgotten one, please see PIN and Password.
*Make sure you choose a secure password.
