Four Year Career Plan

Freshman Year
  • Try out classes that you like and find interesting.
  • Talk to students and professors in different majors to discuss career choices and find out what it's really about.
  • Get involved in SPU activities and the community - this builds great skills and experience.
  • Explore resources and services in the Center for Career and Calling
  • Perform informational interviews (CDC handout - PDF) with professors, professionals and upper-class students to discover more about majors and careers.
  • Write down what you want to get out of your college experience and develop short and long range goals.
  • Explore "Choices Planner" a career guidance computer program, to begin the career exploration process.
  • Take a self assessment test
  • Take GS2001: Career Exploration: Discovering Your Gifts to participate in fun self-exploration that helps you understand who you are and how it relates to your major and career directions. Available Fall, Winter and Spring quarters.
