• Try out classes that you like and find interesting.
• Talk to students and professors in different majors to discuss career choices and find out what it's really about.
• Get involved in SPU activities and the community - this builds great skills and experience.
• Explore resources and services in the Center for Career and Calling
• Perform informational interviews (CDC handout - PDF) with professors, professionals and upper-class students to discover more about majors and careers.
• Write down what you want to get out of your college experience and develop short and long range goals.
• Explore "Choices Planner" a career guidance computer program, to begin the career exploration process.
• Take a self assessment test
• Take GS2001: Career Exploration: Discovering Your Gifts to participate in fun self-exploration that helps you understand who you are and how it relates to your major and career directions. Available Fall, Winter and Spring quarters.

• Continue and/or expand involvement in campus and community activities.
• Perform informational interviews (CDC handout - PDF) with professors, professionals and upper-class students to discover more about majors and careers.
• Conduct research on areas of interest on the web and in career specific books available in the Career Library.
• Spend time in the Center for Career and Calling. Make an appointment with a career counselor and keep in touch with him/her.
• Explore "Choices Planner" and take assessment tests to gain a better understanding of your unique gifts and interests.
• Identify interesting internships, volunteer projects and independent studies.
• Take GS2001: Career Exploration: Discovering Your Gifts.
• Create, update, refine and upload your resume into eRecruiting, SPU's online job and internship source.

• Declare a major.
• Seek leadership positions in campus organizations and/or volunteer services.
• Focus on several career possibilities in-depth.
• Visit the internship section of the CDC web page and find opportunities in eRecruiting and other internship sources. Apply to several that interest you.
• Upload your resume into eRecruiting and publish in eRecruiting's resume book.

• Participate in an internship and/or volunteer with groups and organizations related to your area of interest.
• Participate in job fairs on the SPU campus and other local universities. Visit the events page to view upcoming fairs and career events.

• Explore graduate school options and requirements.
• Use your personal network and/or contact the Center for Career and Calling to identify people in careers that interest you and conduct informational interviews.
• Get together with alumni in your field of interest.

• Apply for and take necessary examinations for graduate school (GRE, LSAT, etc.)
