Deadlines for SPU Internal Grants
Faculty Research Grants (FRG) and Senior Faculty Grant (SFG) applications are due Feb. 2, 2009, in the Center’s office. These grants, typically ranging from $500 to $4500, can be used for direct research expenses, a summer stipend, or release time to pursue a scholarly project. Priority in FRGs is given to pre-tenured faculty; SFGs are limited to tenured faculty. Funds cannot be expended until July 1, 2009. Final awards will be determined by a subcommittee of the Faculty Development Committee. Faculty Grants in Vocation and Theology are also available; applications due Feb. 1, 2009. Your Colleagues At Work
Check out the new Center Star, which features English professor April Middeljans, and her attendance at a CIC (Council for Independent Colleges) summer seminar at Yale on slave narratives. Hear more about what she learned at a Faculty Luncheon, Jan. 27, 2009, co-sponsored by the CSFD and the Faculty Diversity Committee. And take a moment to stop by our new display of faculty scholarship on the second floor of the library, which features the diverse kinds of scholarship in which our faculty engage: teaching, discovery, synthesis, and application. The display includes all the books in these categories published by SPU faculty during 2008.
