The mission of Family and Consumer Sciences is to prepare students to engage the culture and offer solutions to problems faced by individuals, families, and communities that involve food, clothing, shelter, and family relationships. Our graduates become scientists, designers, counselors, leaders, and educators in the apparel, interiors, and food and nutrition fields.

FCS Students ... Changing the World

I graduated from SPU in 2007 with my Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design.  I know without a doubt that SPU played a huge roll in my success as an Interior Designer.

While studying in the Philippines, FCS students can help with feeding and school programs, family and community service projects, and with children at an orphanage. Learn more on the Study Abroad website or contact Dr. Sharleen Kato.

It wasn’t easy making this life-changing decision, but I owe it to my family and friends for encouraging me to continue onto this new journey. Read her story
