Homecoming Nursing Alumni Coffee 2014
In January, the School of Health Sciences welcomed back nursing alumni spanning the decades ― from the 1960s to our most recent 2013 graduates. Friendships were renewed and reminiscing abounded as alumni gathered at Homecoming’s annual Nursing Alumni Coffee hosted by Lorie Wild, dean of the School of Health Sciences.
Dr. Wild presented a short overview of SHS by the numbers, with details about our male students:
- Expanded enrollment of the prelicensure program to 64 students is at the forefront of SHS accomplishments.
- The incoming cohort is at a record high 17 percent male configuration.
- Instructor Jim Mitre has taken great care to mentor the male students, which includes hosting a monthly luncheon for the male nursing students. Lorie reflected that the intentional inclusion of these students provides an enhanced richness to the cohort.
