Two Important Next Steps for New Students
Will your student be entering Seattle Pacific University Autumn Quarter 2015 as a first-year or transfer student? If so, there are two required next steps to be aware of: Your student must submit the Advance Payment and sign up for New Student Advising.

The $200 Advance Payment reserves your student’s space in the incoming class and is due May 1. New Student Advising is where your student will register for Autumn Quarter classes, and receive information about academics and financial aid. Learn more about Advance Payment, New Student Advising, and other important enrollment details.

ICW Ethics Bowl
For the second time, the Independent Colleges of Washington hosted an ethics bowl on the SPU campus. Student teams from the 10 member institutions — including SPU students Josh Johanson, Sam Filby, McClintock Miller, Annë Vlossak, and Jeff Miles — competed in a debate-style format on topics ranging from worker exploitation to the humane treatment of animals. The competition included three preliminary 70-minute rounds, a semifinal round, and then the finals.

This year, the team from Gonzaga University finished in first place. SPU’s team? “SPU placed fourth,” says their coach, Assistant Professor of Philosophy Leland Saunders. “We advanced to the semifinal round to get knocked out by Whitworth in a very close competition.”
