A Message From President Dan Martin

In a few days, your student will be here on the Seattle Pacific University campus. We are busy getting ready for your son's or daughter's arrival. We just concluded our faculty retreat, and there was a tremendous amount of energy and excitement as we talked about the upcoming year. I know this will be a great year in the life of the University, and I trust it will be in your student's life as well.

As we approach Autumn Quarter, I can say more than ever that this is a remarkable and inspiring community, and I can't wait to greet your son or daughter personally. Yes, we've had times of grief, but we've mainly had times of joyous celebration and growth. This is a community that gathers together to pray, to learn, and to care for one another and the world around us in meaningful ways.

Seattle Pacific is a place that helps set a course for life, whether a student continues on to graduate school or on to a profession in the sciences, education, ministry, business, or something else. We are a diverse and welcoming community. I believe your student can always find the challenge and support to be successful in all sorts of ways.

SPU is experiencing a time of remarkable growth and continued achievement:

  • Our faculty members are not only scholars, but also wonderful teachers who are invested in students’ lives.
  • SPU is actively working now to expand and enrich SPU’s academic excellence.
  • The campus is growing and changing: We are opening the new Arnett Residence Hall in time for students’ arrival, and the Alexander Hall restoration project is also on schedule, with the historic building's rededication happening this fall.

I wish you all the best as your family prepares for the 2014–15 academic year. I’ll see you soon!

Sincerely,

Daniel J. Martin
