SPU Ranks No. 2 in “Best Colleges — Best Value” in the West by U.S. News & World Report

Study Abroad

I hope this message finds you and your family well as your student begins Autumn Quarter at Seattle Pacific University. On behalf of SPU faculty, staff, and administration, I warmly welcome you, all of our new and returning families. I’m delighted to share with you some of the energy and excitement around campus.

This summer we completed the new Music Department studios along Nickerson and extensively renovated Crawford Hall. Our faculty prepared for your student’s classroom experience. We also learned that SPU has been named No. 2 “Best Value” in the West by U.S. News & World Report’s 2016 college rankings. We believe this confirms our commitment to making an outstanding education as affordable as possible.

Seattle Pacific is as strong as it has ever been. This is a place where students learn to be scholars and are equipped for professional careers, continued academic study, and a rich life of intellectual and spiritual exploration.

Throughout this year we will focus on implementing our University Strategic Plan, approved by the SPU Board of Trustees last fall. We continue to focus on efforts that will grow our campus and our academic achievements, as well as encourage a thoughtful Christian faith in the lives of students. You’ll be reading more about the Strategic Plan later this fall in Response magazine.

As your son or daughter experiences all that Seattle Pacific has to offer, I hope you will take advantage of some special events. Mark your calendars for a range of family activities throughout the year, including Mom’s Day on November 14; Dad’s Day in April; and, new this year, the 2016 Homecoming Alumni and Parents weekend January 29–31. There are also a few tickets still available for The Sacred Sounds of Christmas on November 30.

May God richly bless you — and your student — in the coming year.
