Residence Lifeís Annual Christmas Care Package Project
During Autumn Quarter the Office of Residence Life prepares Christmas care packages that are delivered to residential students prior to finals week in December.
Inviting parents/guardians to participate in this project adds a special touch from home to help encourage students during this intense time in the quarter.
Each residential student receives a care package that includes goodies to help them get through the first finals week of the year. Often this includes things like granola bars, fruit, hot cocoa mix, tea, popcorn, and other snacks or quick breakfasts.
An email is sent to the parent(s) or guardian(s) of each residential student informing them of the care package project. The email includes a link to an online form where parents/guardians can submit a personal message of encouragement to their student. This note is then attached to the studentís care package. We believe that this personal touch gives students an extra dose of encouragement as they make their way through finals.
Every residential student receives a care package regardless of whether or not their parent/guardian was able to donate. This year we anticipate the cost of each care package to be $4; however, if you are willing and able to donate above this amount, your additional donation will help to conver the cost of care packages for students whose families are unable to afford this. Any resulting funds after every student receives a care package will go to subsidize student costs for events put on by Residence Life.
Donations are made through SPU's trusted and secure online payment portal where credit card, debit card, and e-check payment are accepted.
The deadline for participation has passed for 2016.
*Since the deadline has now passed, we are no longer able to accept and process personal notes or donations from parents/guardians.
