How to Apply (2013-2014)

First-time freshmen are eligible for the residence halls. Transfer students are eligible for the campus apartments. Because of the high demand for campus housing, students may not receive their preferred assignment. If demand for campus housing  exceeds supply, priority will be given to students who are required to live on campus.


You must do two things to be assigned to campus housing:

Submit an Application (available March 31, 2013)
To apply, complete the online Campus Housing Application. When you access the link, you will be directed to a Banner Information System login screen and will be prompted to enter your SPU username and password. If this is your first time entering the system or if you have forgotten your username or password, go to FindMyID.

Submit a $300 Housing Deposit
After submitting your application, you will see a link to pay your housing deposit. The link has a secure connection and is available 24 hours a day. You can pay by e-check (a no-fee service) or by credit card (with a 2.75% transaction fee). MasterCard, American Express, and Discover Card are accepted. SPU cannot accept credit or debit card payments over the phone or in person. Please be prepared to pay when you submit your application.

If you would prefer to pay by paper check, please mail a $300 check payable to SPU, with your ID number on the memo line, to the address below:

Note: Your housing deposit will not appear as a payment on your account; it is held separately and released when you leave SPU housing, provided you have met your contract obligations and have not damaged your room.

DEADLINES

Autumn 2013: If your housing application and deposit are received:

By May 31, you will receive your assignment at the beginning of August.
Between June 1 and August 15, you will receive your assignment mid-September.
After August 15, your application will be processed as space permits.*

 

Please note that both the application and deposit must be received by the deadline for an assignment to be made. For example, if an application is received by May 31, but the deposit is received after May 31, the assignment will not be made until September.

Winter 2014: If your housing application and deposit are received:

By December 11, you will receive your assignment shortly after Christmas.

Between December 12 and December 20, you will receive your assignment when you check in (January 5).

After December 20, your application will be processed as space permits.*

   
Spring 2014: If your housing application and deposit are received:
By March 19, you will receive your assignment by the end of Spring Break.
Between March 20 and March 26, you will receive your assignment when you check in (April 1).
After March 26, your application will be processed as space permits.*

 

*If you apply for housing during a break or at the start of a quarter, a minimum of two business days is required to make your assignment.

Canceling an Application

Your housing deposit is refundable through the following dates. If you cancel your application after these dates, your deposit will be forfeited:

Autumn Quarter 2013: June 28
Winter Quarter 2014: December 11
Spring Quarter 2014: March 19

To cancel an application, send a written notice to housing@spu.edu.
