Continuing Students: Major & Minor Information
All students must be formally admitted to, and complete, a major to earn a degree. If a student decides to complete a minor, the student must formally apply to and be admitted to the minor, as well.
- It is your responsibility to apply for a major or minor using the online application located in your Banner Degree Status Check.
- The school or department will determine whether or not you are officially accepted to the major/minor.
Requirements for admittance to the major are department specific and may include by are not limited to: GPA and specific courses completed. Please refer to the university catalog or contact the department for additional information.
If your faculty advisor is from a department or school outside your area of interest, you must request a new advisor. Enter the Banner Information System and choose “Student Menu” followed by the "Your Faculty Advisor” menu.
Please note that you must have an advisor for each major and minor, which can mean having multiple faculty advisors.
