Ways To Get Around The Sound

Let us help you plan your commute to and from work. Not only do we offer various subsidies to encourage the use of alternative transportation, but we'll help you customize your route. Complete the CTR Participation form to begin earning your subsidies or contact Tiffany Campbell, Parking and Transportation Coordinator at ext.2821 or email tcamp@spu.edu for assistance.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Online Alternative Transportation Sign-up
If you are using alternative transportation and have not yet registered with Safety & Security, you can now do so online. To access the system log into the Banner Information System and click on the Commuting Registration Menu. Select ALternative Transportation Menu to sign up. This process must be completed each year and updated as information changes.

0910 FlexPass Available 6/26/09!

The 0910 FlexPasses will be available for eligible employees to pickup at Safety and Security starting Friday, June 26. The 0809 FlexPasses will expire on June 30th.

SPU Zipcar Program

Zipcar, the car-sharing company which rents cars by the hour is available free to qualifying SPU faculty and staff that regularly use an alternative method of transportation for their commute to work. Employees that routinely bicycle, walk, bus, vanpool or carpool to work can use Flexcar for occasional errands or appointments for free.

Students can use Zipcar on a personal account (personal account users are subject to Flexcar's fees and rates. Flexcar has specific eligibility criteria for personal accounts. Learn more by visiting http://www.zipcar.com

 

COMMUTE TRIP REDUCTION INCENTIVES
METRO Transit & Sounder Train
Full time employees are eligible for a SPU FlexPass. This bus pass is good anywhere Metro, Sound, Community, and Pierce Transit travel, as well as the Sounder Train and the new Link Light Rail.

Regional Transit Agencies
When the SPU FlexPass can't cover your transit commute you can recieve a monthly subsidy in Bonus Bucks. These vouchers can be used to purchase transit passes for  Everett Transit, Intercity Transit, Kitsap Transit, and Pierce Transit.
 
RideShare
Carpoolers or Vanpoolers can receive discounted or free parking on campus. And if you participate in a transit company sponsored vanpool you can earn additional subsidies to help pay for your monthly vanpool fee.

Bike / Walk
Many University employees live within easy bicycling or walking distance of campus. The University offers free lockers and access to showers at Brougham for those biking or walking at least 3 days per week.

WA State Ferries
Additional subsidies are available if you combine transit, biking, walking, carpooling or vanpooling with your Ferry ride.  You can then use these Bonus Bucks to purchase your next month's ferry pass.
