Internship Partners: Become a Supervisor

MFTA site supervisor provides an integral part of the intern's training, guiding their clinical activities. They evaluate the intern's clinical performance over current clinical cases. A supervisor monitors, evaluates, and provides feedback toward the intern's growth as a therapist. The site supervisor and SPU practicum supervisor form a supervision team, communicating as needed and during evaluation periods.

Effective supervision entails mentoring someone who is newer in the field than the supervisor. Supervisors will allow and encourage an intern's exploration of appropriate theoretical and clinical models of marriage and family therapy, even if the orientation differs from that of the supervisor.

The internship site will offer the intern high quality supervision with regard to the intern's delivery of clinical services.
