Welcome to the 2013 Northwest branch meeting of the American Society for Microbiology

Welcome! This years conference will take place the 15-16th of November on the campus of the University of Washington.

The conference opens Friday evening, 15 November 2013. This years Keynote address will be presented by Dr. Joseph Petrosino, director of the Alkek Center for Metagenomics and Microbiome Research at Baylor College of Medicine. A catered reception with drinks will follow so bring your appetite and come prepared for good conversations. The keynote will be in room K-069 in the Magnuson Health Sciences Center on the Campus of the University of Washington followed immediately by the reception in the adjacent Rotunda Cafeteria.

We will reconvene Saturday morning at the South Campus Center in two separate sessions, one focused on general microbiology and the other on clinical microbiology.

This year we will have several speakers focused on science education. These sessions will be coordinated with a special lunch meeting focused on science education hosted by Denise Anderson.

We will close the conference Saturday evening with a poster session and hors d'ouevres. This is a great opportunity to network with colleagues and for your students to present at a local meeting - registration for undergraduate students is free.

Please register early to help us with our planning!
