It was the middle of his sophomore year at Seattle Pacific University, and Yikhwan Dillard felt like an outsider. He thought of transferring, but decided to try an experiment first. Instead of going home to Tacoma, Washington, for the weekends, he would stay on campus for all of Spring Quarter. The result? Now a senior, he’s a leader in the residence halls — and considers SPU home. “I thought, ‘Shoot! I missed out for a year-and-a-half,’” he says. “I realized that I need to be a part of this community.”
