The Recording Project

As a premiere Christian University, Seattle Pacific University has the responsibility to steward music contextualized for Christian worship in a unique way.

The Worship Arts Ensemble is a multidisciplinary collaborative music ministry and worship studies class at Seattle Pacific. It exists to unify, through the Spirit, a community that magnifies the glory of God in Jesus Christ.

The Worship Arts Ensemble students were given the assignment to study selected Psalms and write musical responses. They composed lyrics and melodies; created musical accompaniments; and recorded, mixed, and mastered the music in the studio. The Kingdom and The Gospel is the result.

SPU students are engaging the culture and impacting communities with music that speaks peace, healing, and hope to the world. As you listen, we encourage you to read and meditate on the titled psalms.

Stephen Michael Newby, D.M.A.

Director of University Ministries and the Center for Worship
Artistic Director for the Worship Arts Ensemble
Associate Professor of Music, Seattle Pacific University
