    Diversity 101 @SPU:  What do we mean by “diversity” at SPU and why does it even matter? With a focus on building individual and institutional capacity, this training provides a shared language and framework for SPU employees to move forward productively in the work of diversity. 

    Faculty and staff can register for the February 13 session through Skillsoft.

  • Next Seed Grant Applications Due February 15

    As a reminder, the Winter 2019 application cycle for Diversity Seed Grants opened on January 1 with a submission deadline of February 15. If your department is developing a diversity initiative that will contribute to one or more of SPU’s diversity goals, please consider submitting an application.

  • SPU Welcomes Pastor, Author Daniel Hill January 29

    On Tuesday, January 29, 2019, Pastor Daniel Hill will speak in chapel at 11:10 a.m. in First Free Methodist Church (FFMC). Pastor Hill is the founding pastor of River City Community Church (RCCC), a vibrant, multiethnic church in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago, and author of White Awake: An Honest Look at What It Means to Be White. We encourage you to join us on January 29 to hear Pastor Hill’s story and his heart for reconciliation. We fully expect his message to be an encouragement as we continue to pursue diversity as an aspect of our calling to be a reconciled community.

  • New Diversity Timeline in Weter Hall January 31

    The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion invites you to an SPU diversity timeline viewing reception on Thursday, January 31, 3-4:30 p.m. in the Weter Hall Student Lounge. Take this opportunity to grab a snack and coffee and spend an afternoon break networking with colleagues and view key moments in Seattle Pacific’s history that inform our current diversity efforts. ODEI staff will be available to answer questions.
