2008 Downtown Business Breakfast a Great Success
On April 17, more than 1,200 business and community leaders gathered at the Seattle Sheraton to hear former Hewlitt-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina give the keynote address at this invitation-only event. SPU's award-winning choir and talented string quartet also performed at the Breakfast. Fiorina spoke on the Seattle Pacific campus later that day in an event that was open to the public.
Eaton Attends Higher Education Summit for Global Development in Washington, D.C.
At the invitation of Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings President Eaton attended the Higher Education Summit for Global Development in Washington, D.C. on April 29-30. The event brought together presidents of higher education institutions with government, philanthropic, and business leaders to expand the impact of higher education in social and economic development.
2008 Commencement Ceremony
President Philip Eaton presided over the 2008 Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, June 7, at Qwest Field in Seattle. The Rev. Earl Palmer, senior pastor of University Presbyterian Church in Seattle, was the featured Commencement speaker.
A total of 1,127 students received bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, each poised to use their gifts and energies to engage the culture and change the world in a host of ways.
