  • Study Zones and Earplugs!

    The Seminar Room on the second floor of the Library will become a Quiet Study Zone March 11-13 & 17-19 from 8pm-Closing and all day on the weekends (March 9, 15 & 16). The Library Classroom on the main level of the Library will become a Group Study Zone. This will be in effect March 10 – 14 & 17-19 from 2pm-Closing and all day on the weekends (March 9, 15 & 16). There are also free ear plugs available at the Circulation Desk, Reference Desk, or the Tech Desk to help with blocking out extra sound.

  • Black History Book Display

    Come see the Black History book display on the main floor of the library. Check out titles containing poems or plays written by Black authors, volumes that cover the impact of Black music on American culture, or the collected papers of Martin Luther King, Jr., among others.

  • Summit Items and Local Holds on the Hold Shelf

    As soon as the Circulation Desk recieves a held item, a patron has a week to come the the Library and check it out. Some notices are being sent to patrons informing them that they have only a day to pick up their items. We are working to fix this issue as soon as possible. In the mean time, please disregard the same day pick up notice. All patrons still have the alloted week to get their items. We apologize for any inconvenience and are happy to answer any questions you may have.

  • Celebrate the SPU Archives

    On Tuesday, March 11th, please join us for the annual Friends of the Library event, this year featuring the university archives. A panel of historians, archivists, and librarians will explore SPU's origins through the history of Seattle and the Pacific Northwest, and its educational institutions in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The panel will be held in Upper Gwinn Commons at 7:30 p.m.

    Join us on Thursday February 27th, at 12-12:50 p.m. in the Library Reading Room, to hear Don Yanik discuss the process of scene design and bringing a stage to life. Bring your curiosity and join in conversations about the discovery, creation, and sharing of knowledge. Light snacks will be provided.

  • Plique-à-Jour on Display

    Check out a beautiful collection of plique-à-jour enamelwear on display at the Library! The collection, belonging to SPU alum Bob Corson, features exquisite pieces of craftsmanship from the 1890’s. They are located on the main level on the south wall. Images of some of these items can be seen on Digital Commons @ SPU.

  • Black History Celebration Chapel

    On Tuesday, February 18th, we encourage you to attend a special chapel service celebrating Black History month. The service will be held at First Free Methodist Church at 11:10 AM. The Library, along with all SPU offices, will be closed from 11:00 AM until noon.

  • Did You Know?

    Need a film for your movie night? The SPU Library offers a variety of popular movies, with titles from 2001: A Space Odyssey to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind available for one-week checkouts. Our DVD collection is located in the first shelving unit on the main floor, with most popular titles in the PN1995 to PN1997 call-number range. You can also search for specific titles, using our online discovery system. Movies we don't own can often be requested through Summit.

  • Holiday Hours — Presidents' Day

    On Monday, February 17th, in observance of Presidents' Day, the SPU library hours are reduced to 12:00 PM—8:00 PM.
