  • Book Display : Life after College Week

    The Library is participating in the Center for Career and Calling’s Life after College Week with a book display.  Through January 27th, items related to both the pragmatic and the spiritual aspects of pursing your vocation will be on display to the immediate right, as you enter the Library. You may borrow any of the engaging resources found on the table.

  • Christmas Break Hours

    Dec 9, 2016

    December 9th through the 23rd, the Library will be open Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and closed weekends. The library will then participate in the university-wide campus closure, from Christmas Eve through New Year’s day. We will  reopen Tuesday, January 3rd, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During the break, come check out a DVD or a book from the Popular Fiction Collection. You may also enjoy the quiet of our reading room and the Christmas tree of books. Merry Christmas to all!

  • Day of Common Learning

    Wednesday the 26th of October is the 15th annual Day of Common Learning. This year, SPU welcomes Dr. Alondra Nelson as our keynote speaker, who will discuss genetics, genealogy, and social inequality in a lecture titled "Tracing Our Roots, Telling Our Stories." Please see the Library's subject guide for more information on Dr. Nelson's work and other related topics.

  • Presidential Election 2016

    The Library is pleased to present a new subject guide focusing on the 2016 presidential election. This guide was carefully curated by many contributors across campus from multiple disciplines. In this guide, you will find articles, books, and other resources, which thoughtfully express a wide range of ideas, facts, and opinions relevant to the current campaign. We hope this guide can be a helpful resource and encourage you to use this season as an opportunity to learn more about our American government, and the eternal questions of politics.

  • Write @ the Library!

    Need some help writing your final papers? Come to "Write @ the Library!" The SPU Writing Center will be set up behind the Library Reference desk with lots of ideas and resources to help you start, write, revise, and finish your paper.

    Bring in your papers all quarter on Wednesdays, from 4-6 p.m.

  • Did You Know? : Course Reserves

    Has your professor put items on course reserve for your class? If so, the items are being held behind the front desk. If you bring the call number for a reserve item to the desk, then a library worker will be able to pull it from the reserves shelf for you. To find your item's call number, click the "Course Reserves" tab in the blue box at the top of the Library home page. Then, search by your professor's name, or by item title. If you have any questions about course reserves, please ask anyone at the front desk.

  • Paintings on Display

    The Library was selected to display two recently donated paintings by African-American artist Charles Ethan Porter (1847–1923).  The paintings were donated to the Seattle Pacific University’s John Perkins Center and restored through the Senior gift fund of the class of 2016. They are installed on the north wall of the Library’s main level.  Learn more about Porter and his work.

    Don't forget to enjoy a good book before the long days of Summer are through. Our Popular Fiction Collection, displayed in the Reading Room on the main floor, contains approximately 90 titles that have been individually selected for just such a purpose. Stop in and pick one out.
