  • Lecture at the Library

    On November 3rd, Dr. Jana Bennett will present "In the Beginning, Who Created? A Discussion of Theology, Identity, and Social Media."  This is the first of three lectures in the "Digital Wisdom: Conversations at the Intersection of Technology, Theology, and Culture" series, hosted by the library.  Join us at 7:00 p.m. in the Library Seminar Room.

  • Creative Conversations

    Oct 23, 2015

    Join us on Thursday, November 5th, from 3-3:50 p.m. in the Library Reading Room, for Creative Conversations. From December 2014 to March 2015, SPU hosted Tent City 3 in Tiffany Loop. Professors of Sociology Drs. Karen Snedker and Jennifer McKinney will pose questions about how the SPU community was impacted by this event, and discuss their findings from the data. Bring your curiosity and join in conversations about the discovery, creation, and sharing of knowledge. Light snacks will be provided.

  • Creative Conversations

    Join us on Thursday, October 22nd, at 3-3:50 p.m. in the Library Reading Room, as we kick off the 2015-2016 Creative Conversations. On Thursday SPU Professor of Music Dr. Stephen Newby will discuss his new composition "Hosea-An Oratorio" and share how exegetical study of the biblical text informed his creative process on this project.  Bring your curiosity and join in conversations about the discovery, creation, and sharing of knowledge. Light snacks will be provided.

  • Welcome Dearborn Park Elementary School Fifth Graders

    On Thursday, October 22nd,  SPU will be hosting Going to College in the Fifth Grade.  The library is proud to take part in this experience.  Dearborn Park Elementary School 5th graders will be doing some research and activities in the library between 10:00 a.m. and  12:30 p.m.  Please help us to welcome these prospective college students.  Also, be aware that their enthusiasm may mean that the library is a little less quiet than usual during this time.

  • Special Collections Exhibit

    Come view SPU's new special collections exhibit for 2015, "Bibliotheca Senkleriana: The Library of the Rev. Edmund John Senkler (1802-1872), a Nineteenth-Century Clergyman and Amateur Scientist". Rev. Senkler's books are available for viewing on the second floor, in the display case on the south wall.  See Librarian Steve Perisho's annotated guide for further details about each item on display.

  • Summer Break Hours

    During Summer Break, from August 15th through September 27th, the Library will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and closed on weekends.

  • New CD Browsing Collection

    The Library’s collection of recorded music on CD is now located on the main floor of the Library, immediately to the right upon entering the building. Browse and check out an incredibly diverse array of titles, from classical, jazz, rock, folk, soundtrack, and various other genres.

    Read for pleasure during the Summer! Our Popular Fiction Collection, displayed in the Reading Room on the main floor, contains approximately 90 titles that have been individually selected for this browsing collection. Stop in, pick something out, and indulge.

    Interested in exploring the Puget Sound region this Summer? Come see a special display of Seattle-area city and trail guides, to help you plan your next adventure. These books are on a table to the right of the front doors of the Library, and all are available for checkout. Happy trails!
