Other Libraries

The SPU library has relationships with other libraries to get you the resources and information that you need. Even if we don’t own it, often times we can get it for you!

Request via Summit Borrowing: When you search the SPU library catalog, it also shows you results for all Summit Libraries (the are libraries in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho that are members of the Orbis Cascade Alliance). These libraries use a courier system to share physical items (books, DVDs, and more) throughout the area. Summit items usually arrive within 3–5 business days of the request being placed.

Go in Person to Area Libraries: You may go in person to any Summit Library register as a Summit Visiting Patron – this will allow you to check out materials right away. Also, as SPU students, you may sign up for public library cards from the Seattle Public Library and the King County Library System.

Seattle Area Libraries (you may register for a Public Library Card – show your SeaPac Pass and ask to register as a Summit Visiting Patron at Summit Libraries)

Request an Interlibrary Loan: For journal articles (and books not owned by a Summit Library) you may place an Interlibrary Loan request. We will find a library that owns the item that you need and ask if they will send a copy. Journal articles are provided through an online system and usually arrive within 2–5 days for your download. Books and other physical materials may take up to two weeks to arrive through the US mail.
