Swedish Ballard Emergency Room Physicians In Network

Swedish Medical Center-Ballard emergency room physicians have signed an agreement to rejoin the Premera Blue Cross provider network, effective August 1. This means that emergency room services performed by a doctor at Swedish Medical Center in Ballard will now be considered in-network. These doctors have agreed to accept the contracted amount determined by Premera, and will no longer be "balance billing" the difference between what they charge, and what they receive from the SPU plan. The amounts they receive from the SPU plan are Premera's payments directly to the provider and your payment for any eligible deductibles, co-payments, and co-insurance. Please be aware, however, that Swedish Emergency Physicians who work on First Hill remain out-of-network. Premera continues to work on a plan to bring Swedish First Hill back into the network. If you have questions, contact Associate Director of Human Resources Carrie McCrimmon at 206-281-2676.
