Autumn Grades Due Dec. 21

Autumn 2009 grades are due in Student Academic Services (SAS) by 4:30 p.m. Monday, December 21. Grades may be submitted to SAS via the web, in person, placed in the SAS drop box (located outside of Demaray Hall 151), mailed, or faxed to 206-281-2669. Timely submission of grades helps students and offices with important processes such as the academic dismissal process, disbursing financial aid, and processing enrollment verification. If instructors want grades to appear on the web before December 21, they need to contact Student Records Coordinator Kelli Knapp at so that she can roll the grades to academic history. If there are challenges when grading students, contact SAS prior to the grading deadline. SAS may be able to assist with resolving the situation. Peer Advisor Nominations Needed by Jan. 7

The peer advisor selection process for 2009-10 is coming fast, and we need help obtaining nominations for qualified candidates. Our campus is blessed with many students who have exceptional academic, spiritual, and leadership gifts. Hanson's Paper Published

Professor of Music Eric Hanson's Oxford paper, "How We Got Here: Historical Reflections on the Rifts Between Ways of Knowing," has been accepted for publication in Forum on Public Policy.

Kelly Tells Librarians How Christian Fiction Inspires

Communications Specialist Clint Kelly spoke to public librarians at their Sno-Isle Instructional Training Day in Marysville on December 8. Each year, training organizers select a different literary genre and invite a published author to share insights about the writing journey and books within the genre. This year, because of the high demand for these titles from library patrons, "Something About Books" featured Christian/inspirational fiction.

Devlin's Manuscript To Be Published

A manuscript by Assistant Professor of Counselor Education James Devlin titled "Theory Development: A Bridge Between Practice and Research" has been accepted for publication in The Family Journal. It will appear in Volume 18, Number 1, which will be published in January 2010.

SOE Professors' Chapter Published

A chapter written by School of Education professors James Devlin, Cher Edwards, and Chris Sink titled “School Preparation Within a Developmental Constructivist Framework" has been published in Handbook of Counselor Preparation: Constructivist, Developmental, and Experiential Approaches.

Sink Give Keynote Address

Professor of Education Chris Sink gave the keynote address for the Michigan School Counselor Association annual conference earlier this month.

Brown's Article in Time Magazine

An article co-authored by Associate Professor of Psychology Margaret Brown was featured in Time magazine's “Year in Health 2009."
