Senate Briefs

The Senate confirmed next year's ministry coordinators,Public Relations Manager, and STUB Executive Director. The Student Senate also approved By-law changes that would restructure the Board of Student Media and update Senate and finance policies. Funds were approved funds for technology upgrades for various organizations and for students to go to academic conferences. Finally, the Senate passed a resolution directing the ASSP President to send a memorandum to the University President addressing the various concerns and challenges facing students in light of a possible change to a semester-based system.

Media Equipment Coordinator Applications Available
ASSP is now accepting applications for the 2003-04 Media Equipment Coordinator. The MEC shall assume the following responsibilities: 1. Oversee all sound equipment use by authorized ASSP groups, including STUB, GROUP and the Chapel Worship Team, ensuring that those groups operate the equipment responsibility, providing training and/or written instructions as necessary. 2. Act as the primary sound equipment operator and technical consultant for STUB events requiring the use of the ASSP media equipment, providing a competent substitute operator when necessary. 3. Implement policies, in conjunction with the Vice President of Campus Activities, governing the use and/or rental of sound equipment by additional on-campus and off-campus parties. 4. Maintain an accurate inventory of all sound and lighting equipment 5. Keep all sound and lighting equipment in working order. Upgrade or replace equipment as necessary. Living Learning Grant Awarded
The ASSP has awarded the Living Learning Grant to Katrina Timm and Susanna Miller in order to further their education pursuits in a way that tangibly affects the SPU community and the community at large. They will be hosting an “Urban Life Conference" that will seek to educate members of the community on how to take up the call of Christ and engage the city through urban ministry.

AUSBE: Graduation Banquet, 7:00pm -- Come to celebrate the impending graduation of the Class of 2003 students of Business and Economics! 6/6, 7:30pm -- Baccalaureate is an informal worship service shared by the graduates and their families, friends and professors. This event, organized in part by ASSP, is open to all students who want to say “farewell" to seniors. Royal Brougham Pavilion, a reception follows in upper Gwinn Commons.
