Spring Quarter Grades Due on June 21

Spring Quarter grades are due in Student Academic Services (SAS) by 4:30 p.m., Monday, June 21. Grades may be submitted to SAS via the Web; in person; placed in the SAS drop box (located outside of Demaray Hall 151); mailed; or faxed to (206) 281-2669 (with the original mailed or submitted as soon as possible). If you have any questions concerning grading or meeting the University deadline, contact Kelli Knapp at (206) 281-2636. Timely submission of grades helps students and offices with important processes, such as the academic dismissal process, disbursing financial aid and processing enrollment verifications.




Audio and Video of SPU's Community Breakfast With David Brooks Now Available

If you missed SPU's 2004 Greater Seattle Community Breakfast, you can now hear and see the speakers via the SPU home page. Audio and video files of the remarks by SPU President Philip Eaton, School of Business and Economics Dean Jeff Van Duzer, and keynote speaker and New York Times columnist David Brooks are available on the President's Web page, www.spu.edu/info/pres.html, under the “President's Addresses" section. Fac/Staff Bulletin Survey

Fac/Staff Bulletin Now on Summer Schedule

Beginning June 21, the Fac/Staff Bulletin will be published every other week until late September. Be sure to send your announcements and news as early as possible to the Fac/Staff Bulletin editor (Tracy Cooper Norlen) at fsb-editor@spu.edu, or submit an item directly from the Fac/Staff Bulletin. (Look for the “Submit Bulletin Items" in the upper right-hand corner.) The next deadline is Thursday, July 1, for the July 6 publication.

Sink Speaks to School Counselors

Chris Sink, professor of school counseling and psychology, recently addressed school counselors attending the Arizona School Counselors' Academy in Tucson. His topic, "Taking Accountability to Heart," addressed the need for evidence-based practice. The academy is sponsored by the University of Arizona, the Arizona School Counselor Association and the Arizona Department of Education.

Caddell Featured on NPR's “Marketplace"

David Caddell, associate professor of sociology, was featured on National Public Radio's “Marketplace" on June 16. Marketplace is public radio's daily magazine of business and economics. The story concerned the recent split in the World Baptist Alliance. David spoke about the sociological implications of a split in a major denomination. Listen to the story online. MILESTONES

Linda and Her Daughter Graduate!

Linda McClees, administrative assistant for Fine Arts, and her daughter, Alicia, participated in the SPU commencement exercises on June 12. Linda graduated with a bachelor's degree in European Studies (German). Alicia graduated with a bachelor's degree in textiles, clothing and interiors. Linda says, “I am realizing the fulfillment of a vision that God gave me about six years ago to ‘walk' at commencement with my daughter, Alicia! I believe that God gave me this opportunity and I would have been foolish if I had not taken advantage of it." Congratulations, Linda and Alicia!
