|SPU Night at the Mariners on September 13|
Join SPU faculty, staff, students, alums, friends, and family at Safeco Field on Tuesday, September 13, to watch the Seattle Mariners play the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Tickets are $10 each, and checks can be made payable to SPU. The deadline to order tickets is Thursday, August 11. However, tickets usually sell out before the order deadline date. To purchase tickets, contact Julia Weir in University Communications, Suite 116, at (206) 281-2051 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
|Farewell Party for Erika, Kristi, Linda, and Lydia on June 30|
Please join us as we celebrate 22 years of combined service of Erika Daligcon from
TESOL, Kristi Fure and Lydia Stout from the College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Office, and Linda McClees from Fine Arts. A farewell party in their honor is Thursday, June 30, 2-3:30 p.m. in the Science Building Lobby. It is with mixed emotion that we say goodbye and pray them God speed as they leave the SPU community.
|Retirement Farewell for Darrell Hines on June 29|
After 10 years of faithful service, great accomplishments, good relationships, and hard work at SPU, Darrell Hines, associate vice president for business and facility services, will be retiring on June 30. Please join us as we offer best wishes on Darrell's retirement on Wednesday, June 29, 3:30 – 5 p.m. in the SUB Gazebo Room.
|Summer Institute for Artists, Writers|
The Glen Workshop, sponsored by Image: A Journal of Art and Religion, is an innovative and enriching program for artists and writers combining the best elements of a workshop, arts festival, and conference. The workshop will be held July 31–August 7 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Classes at “The Glen" are led by nationally known authors and artists. Small class sizes allow the faculty to pay close attention to each participant -- whether he or she is a beginner or well advanced in his or her craft. The Glen is also an illuminating conference on the relationship between art and religious faith, where participants practice and strengthen their craft and vision in community. Now published at SPU, Image is one of America's leading literary and arts journals, and explores the relationship between Judeo-Christian faith and art. The Fac/Staff Bulletin will be published every other week beginning June 20. A reminder that only news directly related to the SPU community will be published. |Hanson Conducts Mahler Festival Orchestra|
On June 15, Professor of Music Eric Hanson conducted the Northwest Mahler Festival Symphony Orchestra in a special reading of Gustav Mahler's Ninth Symphony. Eric was asked once again to provide the program notes for the festival. The Northwest Mahler Festival is one of the premier Mahler festivals in the world, attracting an international audience.

Assistant Professor of Biochemistry Ben McFarland and co-authors published an article titled “Energetics and Cooperativity of the Hydrogen Bonding and Anchor Interactions That Bind Peptides to MHC Class II Protein" in the Journal of Molecular Biology, volume 350, issue 1.
