|Winter Grades Due Mar. 24|
Winter grades are due in Student Academic Services (SAS) by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 24. Grades may be submitted to SAS via the web, in person, placed in the SAS drop box (located outside of Demaray Hall 151), mailed, or faxed to 206-281-2669. Timely submission of grades helps students and offices with important processes such as the academic dismissal process, disbursing financial aid, and processing enrollment verification. If instructors want grades to appear on the web before March 24, they need to contact Coordinator of Student Records Kelli Knapp at firstname.lastname@example.org so that she can roll the grades to academic history. If there are challenges when grading students, please contact SAS prior to the grading deadline. We may be able to assist with resolving the situation. If you have questions concerning grading or meeting the University deadline, contact Kelli at 206-281-2636 or at email@example.com.
|Falcon Women, Men in NCAA Div. II Playoffs|
The NCAA Division II West Regional Women's Basketball Tournament returns to
Brougham Pavilion on Friday, March 14. The No. 2 nationally ranked Falcons, seeded
number one in the West Region, square off against Saint Martin's University at
7:30 p.m. Tickets for the regional tournament are on sale in the SPU Athletic
Department. For more information, call 206-281-2085. The Falcon men, ranked No. 5
in the West Region, will play Central Washington University in the opening round of
the men's tournament on Friday, March 14, at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex on the
campus of University of Alaska, Anchorage. Game time is 6:30 p.m. (PST). Visit the

|Summary Annual Report for Health Plan|
SPU is required to file certain information about our health and welfare plan on an annual basis with the Employee Benefits Security Administration, U.S. Department of Labor, as required under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). |SAS Hosts Two Events|
Student Academic Services will host two events this week. On Thursday, March 13, University Registrar Ruth Adams and other colleagues from the Pacific Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers (PACRAO) will be conducting a Professional Development Workshop on change, communication, networking, and leadership. On Friday, March 14, registrars from private universities across Washington state will gather for their semi-annual meeting.
|April Is “Student Employment Month"|
April is recognized as "Student Employment Month" in the state of Washington. The Office of Student Employment Office needs your help recognizing committed and hardworking student employees. Please take a moment to acknowledge an outstanding student, relate a memorable experience, or describe the impact student employees make in your department. Also, mark your calendar to attend the Student Employment Celebration on Tuesday, April 8, when we will celebrate our outstanding students!

Sodexho and Campus Dining Services are offering a new dining discount plan for faculty and staff called “CINCH." It starts by getting a CINCH card from the Upper Gwinn Commons cashier. Every time you purchase a meal in Upper Gwinn Commons, present your CINCH card to the cashier for a special CINCH stamp. For every three meals you purchase at full price, you'll qualify for a fourth meal absolutely free. It's your choice when you redeem your free meal. You may opt to enjoy your free meal after every three purchases, or you may want to save your free meal for use at a later date. |Complete Your Online Personal Health Manager by Mar. 21|
Employees and spouses covered by Premera now have access to a “Personal Health Manager" through WebMD. The easy-to-use, online Personal Health Assessment takes only 20-25 minutes to complete. Employees who complete the assessment prior to March 21 will receive $75. Results are immediate and you will receive an evaluation of your health, including an overall "wellness score," information about lifestyle health risks, suggestions on how to reduce or eliminate your lifestyle health risks, and a summary to share with your doctor, if you choose. Individual responses are not shared with SPU. Visit the Human Resources webpage under “WebMD Personal Health Assessment" for logon information.
|Fremont Bridge Nighttime Closures Mar. 10-14|
The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) will close the Fremont Bridge to vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. the next morning, March 10-14 The closures are required to continue work on the replacement of the mechanical and electrical systems. SDOT's contractor will provide a shuttle service for pedestrians and bicyclists from 9 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. between the north and south ends of the bridge (from North 34th Street and Fremont Avenue North to Nickerson Street and Fourth Avenue North) every 20 to 30 minutes.

“Here are some pictures of my pet beta, Milo. He was orphaned by a roommate, and then I adopted him. During the time that I took care of him (before he was orphaned), he and I formed a close bond. I felt his sadness of being alone, his excitement as soon as a mini food pebble would hit the surface of the water, his glee of catching his reflection in the mirror. |Fritzberg Received BECU Grant|
Professor of Education Greg Fritzberg received a $30,000 Boeing Employees Credit Union grant to support a tutoring and mentoring program for Southwest Seattle middle school students. Mentors will be provided from SPU and the University of Washington through a new program called the University Mentors Network.

|Wilhite Selected as Speaker|
Senior Events Manager Rebecca Wilhite was selected by Meeting Professionals International to be one of their speakers at the Cascadia Conference, March 9-11, in Eugene Oregon. The conference is the premier educational conference for the Pacific Northwest meetings industry. She gave a presentation titled “Event Planning 101" for new planners, and another presentation for experienced planners called “Living Your Dream Life."
