Interior Design Portfolio Exhibit June 4

The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences invites faculty and staff to the Interior Design Portfolio Exhibit Tuesday, June 4, 4-7 p.m. in Upper Gwinn Commons. The exhibit is the culmination of senior interior design student's portfolios. Faculty and staff can vote for the People's Choice Award. The event will also offer a Professional's Choice Award, so if you know interior design industry professionals, please invite them to attend.

Camp Casey Holds Open House June 14

SPU Camp Casey Conference Center on Whidbey Island is hosting an open house on Friday, June 14, 12-4 p.m. Visitors will get a rare chance to tour the Colonel's House. Tours will also be available in various barracks and the newly renovated mess hall, where free snacks will be served. Guests will be able to visit the "Sea Lab," a marine biology teaching facility, and play games in the center's gymnasium. Admission to the outdoor pool will also be free. Camp Casey Fall/Winter Reservations. Deadline Extended to June 5.

Fall/Winter reservation requests are now being taken for Faculty/Staff House at the Camp Casey Conference Center. The dates of stay are September 23, 2013, through January 6, 2014. Reservation requests are due by June 5. The fall/winter requests are selected by lottery and are not affected by summer stays at Casey. Beginning Monday, June 10, the Fac/Staff Bulletin will be published every other week during the summer. Deadlines for submissions are Thursdays. If you have information or event news, send it as soon as possible to Fac/Staff Bulletin editor Tracy Norlen at Submissions may be edited for clarity. The next deadline is Thursday, June 6. The next Bulletin will be published Monday, June 10.


Poznanska Presents Paper

Professor of International Business Joanna Poznanska, along with co-author Haiyue Liu from Sichuan Normal University in China, presented a paper titled “The Implications for the Global Economy of the Evolution of Income and Consumption of the Middle Class in the U.S. and China" at the International Trade and Finance Association Conference in Montreal on May 30.

Hunter Wins Dissertation Award

Perkins Center Teaching Fellow Max Hunter won the 2013 Gordon C. Lee Outstanding Dissertation Award from the University of Washington's College of Education. The title of his dissertation was “Ambivalence and Transformation in Black Male Literacy Narratives: Grounds for Reaching Out to Black Males." Congratulations, Max!
