Meet the SPU Staff Member of the Month for December 2013

Lindsay LeVeque

Events Manager
University Relations

Whether she’s signing a rental contract, answering a vendor question, or working alongside fellow SPU staff, Bellevue native Lindsay LeVeque loves details, and she loves orchestrating them on behalf of Seattle Pacific. After two years as University Relations events manager, Lindsay has learned the inner workings of major events such as Sacred Sounds of Christmas, which she plans alongside her fellow committee members. Staff Council celebrates Lindsay for her invaluable contribution to the Sacred Sounds team this fall, and her ever-present cheerfulness and hard work.

What brought you to SPU?
I’m a firm believer that God opens and closes doors for us. When I was in college on track for an entirely different career path, I started working for my university and attending some of their events, before I quickly realized that someone behind the scenes actually planned those events… and that’s what I wanted to do! I switched gears and dove headfirst into the world of event planning after I graduated, and never looked back. A few years later when I had an opportunity to work at SPU - I jumped at the chance! I feel so privileged to be working at prestigious university that is impacting our community and showing them Christ’s love.

Who has had the greatest impact on your faith?
My parents have had the strongest influence on my faith, and I feel blessed by their wisdom and encouragement throughout my life. They both are faithful followers and have shown me time and time again what it looks like to have a servant’s heart. I also became actively involved with Young Life in high school, and I was fortunate to have a few wonderful mentors from the organization who helped me to further develop an active and genuine faith in Christ - I am beyond grateful that they were willing to invest so much into my life.

What is one thing you would like the SPU community to know about you?
I feel incredibly blessed to be working at SPU, and I’m continually amazed with the wonderful people that work here - everyone is genuinely kind, generous, and friendly. If I haven’t met you yet, I would love to! I suppose it’s also worth mentioning that I’m a big Seahawks fan too - Go Hawks!

What does fall look like for you, with planning the Sacred Sounds concert?
I love when the students return to campus in the fall because they re-energize the campus, and bring so much life to the university! Little do they know when they return at the end of September, we’ve already been working on our annual Sacred Sounds of Christmas concert event since the middle of summer. Our tickets for the event go on sale usually around Labor Day weekend, so we have to be ready. Our fall is spent in committee meetings working with staff members and faculty members on all details regarding the event - marketing efforts, ticket sales, venue contracts and details, and program planning. This last year Sacred Sounds of Christmas sold out McCaw Hall with almost 2,900 attendees!

What inspires you in your job?
I am passionate about my work at SPU, and I consider it a great honor that some of the projects I work on can be a person’s first impression of SPU. Many details in event planning may seem insignificant, but overall they contribute to making someone feel welcomed, inspired, and encouraged to join our community and mission of engaging the culture and changing the world.

Please join Staff Council in congratulating Lindsay LeVeque as Staff of the Month!
